7. Treasure Hunt Mechanics

Cuco’s treasure system blends the thrill of collectibles with verifiable blockchain rewards, layered to serve casual thrill-seekers, dedicated collectors, and community puzzle solvers.

7.1 Prize Tiers

  • Instant Wins: Some packs contain QR or scratch codes redeemable for immediate token drops, NFTs, or lore items.

  • Mini Vaults: Sets of 3–6 cards can be combined to unlock mid-tier prizes; accessible to individuals or teams.

  • Major Vaults: Require larger, rarer sets (8–12 specific cards) or successful ARG resolution for significant rewards.

  • Grand Vault: A season headline vault requiring a 42-card recipe (or season-specific equivalent). Unlocking requires both finding and opening: discovery (locating the vault or clue) and presenting the correct unlocking set or puzzle solution.

7.2 ARG & Community Hunts

  • Summoner’s Map — A dynamic NFT map that updates as treasures are discovered.

  • Shapeshifter Challenges — Community riddles where players guess Cuco’s next form.

  • Secret Drops — Hidden wallets and token drops scattered across blockchains and platforms.

  • Cuco Sightings — Appearances across social channels and real-world touchpoints with cryptic clues.

  • Shadow Riddles — Lore-driven puzzles that reward clever solvers and push community narrative forward.

7.3 Finding vs Opening

  • Find the Vault: Discovery is an ARG process blending physical and digital clues — e.g., decode a map fragment, locate a regional QR, or solve a global riddle. Vaults remain hidden until discovered.

  • Open the Vault: Once found, a player or team must present the correct Key/Clue set or solve the vault puzzle to trigger smart contract release of rewards.

7.4 Redundant Paths & Anti-Gridlock

To avoid single-card gridlock and maintain momentum:

  • Redundant Recipes: Vaults may support 2–3 valid combinations to open them.

  • Riddle + Set Duality: Vaults can be opened either by assembling a set or by solving a riddle — both are valid paths.

  • Wildcard Keys: Rare substitute Keys can replace a missing archetype in a recipe.

  • Time-Release Hints: If a vault remains undiscovered after a predefined time, public hints are released to keep engagement alive.

7.5 Team Mechanics (Fair Payouts)

Two recommended on-chain patterns for team participation and fair distribution:

  • TeamClaim Contract (Preferred): Members deposit Key IDs to a TeamClaim contract; on successful unlock it disburses funds pro rata or by pre-agreed shares. This flow is trustless and automated.

  • Team Voucher NFT: A single winner mints a TeamClaim NFT representing entitlement; off-chain settlement distributes payouts. Simpler UX but less trustless.

Both flows include identity verification and KYC for large payouts; payout splits, contributor shares, and dispute policies are published prior to each Season.

7.6 Security & Fairness

  • No real seed phrases or private keys are printed on any physical or digital asset.

  • Transparent vaults: Rewards live in audited smart contract vaults.

  • One-time codes & soulbound minting: Instant-win codes are one-time use; claimed rewards mint soulbound NFTs as proof of redemption.

  • Verifiable release: Vault payouts are held in audited smart contracts and released only after verifiable proof submission (Merkle proof, signed evidence, on-chain triggers, or dApp verification).

  • Anti-cheat & physical anti-fraud: Scratch foils, holograms, microtext, randomized collation, tamper-resistant labels, and verifiable randomness functions (VRF) are used to prevent predictable sequencing, counterfeiting, and automated exploitation.

  • Audit & transparency: Vault logic, payout criteria, and top-up/lock rules are published and audited; odds and season rules are published prior to launch.
